The Nokia 8 won’t make it to the US after all

It looks like the Nokia 8 won’t be coming to the US after all. NokiaPowerUser got its hands on a screenshot that shows an email allegedly sent by Rex Fryhover, HMD’s head of sales for the US, claiming that the flagship won’t be released stateside.

However, the email does mention that the company will release more smartphones in the future that will be available in the US, although it doesn’t state when that might happen and which devices we can expect to see. One of them might be the recently leaked Nokia 9, which is rumored to sport a dual-camera setup, the Snapdragon 835 chipset, and 4 GB RAM — check out the 360-degree render video here.

Though we can’t verify the email, Trusted Reviews subsequently contacted HMD Global who confirmed that the Noke 8 won’t reach the US.

Editor’s Pick

The new info is at odds with earlier rumors which suggested that the Nokia 8 would make its way to the US. A few weeks ago, NokiaPowerUser reported that a model believed to be the Nokia 8 with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB had stopped by the FCC, indicating that the handset would be released stateside.

We would definitely have liked to have seen HMD release its flagship in the US, but it seems like it’s not meant to be. Are you disappointed by this Nokia 8 news? Let us know in the comments.
